Help & FAQ
Everything you need to get the most out of Acadex, in about five minutes of reading.
Getting started
- Create an account and answer three setup questions: campus, semester and your attendance target.
- Add your courses by importing a report (fastest) or entering them by hand.
- Record attendance totals per course, and add your timetable and exam dates.
- Check Overview each day. Courses that need attention appear first.
Importing from Academia
Acadex can't log in to Academia for you, by design. Instead, open Academia yourself, go to the page you need (attendance, marks, timetable or course details), and save it as a PDF (Print → Save as PDF) or take a clear screenshot. Then upload it in Import & Scan.
- PDFs saved from the browser give the most accurate results, because their text is read directly.
- For screenshots, crop to the table, avoid glare, and make sure text is sharp.
- Review every row. Low-confidence values are highlighted, and conflicts with existing records are shown side by side.
Reading your margin
The margin rail shows each course relative to your target. Green ticks to the right of the line are classes you could miss and still stay on target. Amber or red ticks to the left are classes you'd need to attend in a row to get back. Beside every percentage you'll also see Margin (how many you can miss) and Required (how many you must attend).
The formulas are on each course's attendance page under “Show the math”. Percentages are truncated, never rounded up, so 74.99% never shows as 75%.
Attendance targets
Acadex doesn't assume an official attendance threshold. Set the one you want to track in Settings → Semesters & targets, and override it per course where a different rule applies. Check your institution's current regulations for what actually counts.
Leave, OD & ML
The Leave, OD & ML calculator counts how many hours of each course fall within a date range, using your timetable and day-order calendar. It then shows the result three ways: counted as absent, not counted, or counted as present. How approved OD and ML are applied is decided by your department, so the calculator shows the full range instead of guessing.
Day orders
KTR timetables typically repeat by day order (Day 1–5) rather than weekday. Add your slots by day order in the Timetable, then mark which day order each date is in the day-order calendar, or import it from the academic planner. Acadex never guesses a day order. If one is missing, Today tells you and asks you to set it.
Marks & weightages
Enter each assessment's maximum marks and, if you know it, its weightage: the marks it contributes to your internal total. Weighted totals and the target planner only use assessments with a weightage. Estimates you enter are kept separate from real scores.

FAQ
Is my data shared with SRM?
No. Acadex is independent and shares nothing with your institution.
Why doesn't Acadex sync automatically?
There's no authorised way for a third-party app to read Academia. Automating a login would mean handling your password and bypassing the portal's controls, which we won't do. Importing a PDF takes about a minute.
The OCR got a number wrong.
Fix it in the review screen before confirming. Nothing is saved until you approve it.
Can I use Acadex for another university?
Yes. Manual entry works anywhere. Import parsing is tuned for SRMIST reports first.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account. It removes all your records and files immediately.
